Hi, friend. š How are you?
This weekend was emotionally heavy for me and my family, and I contemplated skipping a post this week.Ā Two of my nephews were killed in an accident on Friday night.Ā It’s completely rocked my family’s world and we are truly heartbroken.
I’ve been emotionally buoyed up so much by prayers and love from friends and family over the past couple of days ā and just wanted to remind you all: don’t ever underestimate the power of the written (or spoken) word, whether that be via text, phone call, or in person.
Even when you don’t know the right thing to say, reaching out by writing a note, sending a text message, or just calling to tell someone you love them is invaluable.
I got the news early Saturday morning and was comforted by my loved one’s words and actions all day.
My sweet friend who lives hours away sent me treats from my favorite local bakery.
I visited a dear friend in the evening, who listened while I talked and hugged me while I cried.Ā She handed me some cute crafty items that she’d picked up for me at Michaels and her sweet daughter drew me the best picture while we sat and talked on the couch (I’m on the left, with the glasses and a messy top knot).
Sometimes life is hard and messy and beyond painful.Ā In these times, never underestimate the power of letting someone know you care.Ā It doesn’t have to be anything big or extravagant.Ā The small things mean the most.
If you’re someone who prays, please keep my brother, his ex-wife, and their middle son in your prayers.Ā Their new reality is so painful and will be hard to navigate for a long time.
I hope you send someone you love some joy this week.Ā I promise they’ll appreciate it more than you know.Ā Stay safe and be well. š
I’m so so sorry to hear about your loss.
I’m happy to hear that you’re getting so much support from loved ones.
I believe that when something awful happens in your life, you’ll find out who really cares about you and you’ll grow closer to the people who do.
Praying for you šššš
