In my element, baking s’more bars in my friend’s kitchen: July 2012 (photo by Jennifer Spurgin Photography)

Welcome to Stephanie Makes Stuff!  I’m so glad you’re here!  I’m Stephanie.  You can call me Steph – all of my friends do.  I’m a self-taught baker living in Indiana with my family.

Baking has always been, and continues to be, one of my favorite ways to stretch my creative muscles and de-stress.  I created this blog in August 2012 while my mom was battling terminal cancer.  Baking and writing became my refuge.

My mom passed away in May 2014, 3 months after my husband and I got married.  Though she was enduring chemo, she felt and looked wonderful on our wedding day — which I count as one of my life’s greatest blessings.

I’m a wife to one amazing man, a stepmom to the three awesome kids, and a #1 human to two sweet and stinky dogs.  During the day, I work in elementary education.  It’s hard work but so much fun!  During evenings and on weekends, you can usually find me in my kitchen or in my crafty space. It’s where I process complicated emotions, decompress from my day, and express love to my people.  I love to make stuff!

While Stephanie Makes Stuff started as a space for me to share my favorite recipes with you, it’s also grown into a place for me to show you how I love to preserve memories through scrapbooking and the fun of card making and sending snail mail.

I hope you find recipes that you’re excited to try and share with people you love, as well as crafty ideas that warm your heart and help make your home your happy place.

So, settle in.  And have a s’mores bar.  I know you want one.

💛

If you have any questions or requests, please feel free to contact me.  I’d love to hear from you.
